Our Gauzy Cotton Check Scarf has been handwoven on traditional flying shuttle looms by a small community of weavers on the outskirts of Kolkata. To create the scarf, the cotton yarn is dyed by hand, before being wound into a warp. There are nearly two thousand yarn ends in the warp, resulting in a very fine, lightweight and gauzy cotton fabric. The loom is then threaded; a slow process, which takes a full day. The weavers here are highly skilled and the community is proud of its heritage and rich textile traditions.
