Our Hand Woven Sete Check Scarf has been handwoven on traditional flying shuttle looms by a small community of weavers on the outskirts of Kolkata. To create the scarf, the cotton yarn is dyed by hand, before being wound into a warp. There are nearly two thousand yarn ends in the warp, resulting in a very fine, lightweight cotton fabric. The loom is then threaded; a slow process, which takes a full day. The weavers here are highly skilled and the community is proud of its heritage and rich textile traditions.
Machine wash 30ºC. 100% cotton.
Made in India.
This fabric is handloom woven. Weaving irregularities are a pleasing characteristic of handloom woven items and should not be considered a fault.
Made in India by small groups of men and women who work in collaboration with a fair trade organisation that supports them in business and marketing. Being hand made, no two are the same.
