Shibori is a traditional technique, originating in Japan, of patterning cloth by folding, stitching or tying the fabric by hand, prior to dyeing. The fabric for our Stitched Masa Shibori Sling Bag has been intricately gathered into sections, sewn together, covered and then overdyed by hand by artisans in Northern India. The stitches are then carefully unpicked to reveal the resist pattern that lies beneath. With one long handle and one short, the design of our Sling Bag is informed by the art of folding, with the shape based on a traditional Japanese knot bag. When one handle is pulled through the other, the lightweight bag can be used to carry books and lunchboxes, or simply hung on the back of a door.
